I carry either the Glock 23 or the 27, and sometimes pepper spray.  Actually, I'd just as soon use the spray.  Once I surrender my weapon to police ballistics, there's no telling if or when I'd ever get it back.  My jurisdiction is quite anti-gun, and even in a simple self-defence situation there is a burden of proof that is, alas upon an armed citizen.

But as I said, "Better to have it and not need it....."

:
You are Glock fan then  WinkZ
I know why many persons prefers Glocks, it is even the choice of FBI agents, but I'd prefer 1911 styled .45 ACP for self defense.

Glock 27 is chambered in .40 S&W, a pretty efficient caliber for self-defense, while Glock 21 is chambered in .45 ACP.
However with that lenght we can use a 4 inches 1911 styled, double stack pistol like a STI or Strayer Voigt and they are even very elegant weapons   nod
Just personal opinion.
Strayer Voigt are designed for practical shooting, thus are perfect for self-defense.

Just look at these weapons and compare them with a Glock.

I love the 5 inches models but the compact one are very nice too.

The Glock is perfect for Dumbinator Dementors like me:

1)  Pull out gun
2)  Train sights on target's head
3)  Blow motherfucker's head to smithereens.

Careful with that piece old timer, we don't want to have to Pray 4 you Cheesy

It says "serious question" so I will give a serious answer. I am likely to tear a hole in the motherfucker. For the first 10 years of my life I watched my father abuse my mother. I took it up with him but she always took the worst of it. I do not know of rape but I know of violence and I have stood up to it despite black eyes and broken bones. The very last time I would have done some serious injury to him and myself. My mother finally decided it was time to leave. The result of that is that I am not all that well balanced. I am fist-happy. I was prepared to beat the shit out of my old man so I don't know how far I'd go with a stranger. Even if it is a rape fantasy, I would probably break the rapist's face before asking if everything is alright. It won't be based on training or guns or anything like that. It will be based on rage because everytime I see someone being beaten I will be transformed back to the monster I can be. My therapist has done a good job but I pity the rapist I come across.

Just a curiosity.. why cannot you use the same technique with other guns?  scratching
By the way the weapon's choice is highly personal. You have to choose the weapon you are more confident with.  nod

D.D. The Glock is simple and very reliable.  No safety lever or button or anything.

Just take it out.
Aim
Squeeze
Bang!

One should always use a well-designed safety holster. But more so with a Glock.

:
That's what I don't like about Glocks. Safety is always useful, no matter how skilled you are. It prevents accidental discharges but you are skilled you should not have issues

It's just my personal style. And if you want to have access to a ready fire pistol you can carry with the deactivated safety, not recommend  WinkZ, or using an high retention holster. Look for the so called Serpa Holsters through the web  WinkZ.
High retention and quick draw  nod

Yes I have been working through my anger. I used to break things when I got angry. I don't do that any more but I don't mind breaking a rapist. I've been taking a more feminine approach. They call it "talking things through" Cheesy
If we are talking weapons, I have a Wilson Combat Classic 1911 (.38 Super) and an old Colt Special (.45). They are both locked away in separate locations in my apartment. Yes I have taken classes for discharging them. No, my job does not require guns and I do not entertain shooting anyone. It's one of those "have it for security but pray you never need it" things. My girl doesn't like guns but I told her that if I ever turn into Cujo, she can shoot me. evil grin She warmed up to them after that.

My jurisidiction requires that firearms be disabled by either being broken down or with a trigger lock, or secured in a locksafe.  I say BS.  I  keep mine in a hide.  It's a decision with risks either way.  But I'd rather keep it closeby and accessible, which involves (substantial) legal risks (failure to comply, here, is a felony) as opposed to the substantial personal-safety risks of needing it but not having it ready.

Back to the "serioius" matter of encountering a rape as a crime-in-progress, I suppose one might also consider the possibilty of the so-called "citizen's arrest."  This may amount to nothing more than the forcible detention of  a suspect pending the arrival of law enforcement.   hcuff  Where I live, that applies to felonies and fugitives-at-large.  (The latter is a pretty rare and exotic situation.)  But not many people really know what they can and cannot legally do, and there are serious consequences for the wrong call.   club

But rape is definitely a felony wherever you go, except for Islamic socities, where  the victim is the felon.  Again: there will probably be a major disconnect between what you would like to do and what you end up doing!  dunno

Like many of my co-conspiritors here, I have a touch of that Hero Complex, it's part of why I went into healthcare as a paramedic years ago en route to my current position. There is something pretty cool about coming in lights and sirens, running in with a uniform, helping the person in need... (and occasionally getting rewards  Wink )

Having a father that was an army ranger that I sparred with daily till I moved out, I'm pretty confidant in my ability to help myself and other's physically. If I truly think what I am seeing is a rape as opposed to rough play (which can be tough) I have no problem interferring after I call the cops. And then I just hope the rapist actually tries to pull a weapon in defense... there is a reason I don't carry any.

I guess I’m just old fashioned, but I like the 1911 design, and while I only have limited training and experience with handguns I can’t help feeling that I would much prefer a .45 over a 9mm. I also like the single action trigger.

Maybe a Para Ordnance 1911 SSP.

For in the home, I prefer the Remington 870. No need for concealment (of the firearm) indoors. Better accuracy, better firepower, and let’s face it......everybody recognizes the sound of the action being cycled. The sound alone will make the intruder suddenly become a model citizen and change his wayward ways, because if he doesn’t, he gets a Darwin Award

Better safe than sorry.

Embarrassed you may have been but clear your conscience should now be.

True...of course if she was a hottie like you I would have slapped the wimpy boyfreind and said "what's with all this tickling shit? Let me show you how it's done!" and proceeded to get you naked.  flame evil grin rotflmao Hooray kinky Dom Fuck rofl WinkZ

LOL! Well, I think I'd prefer rape over being tickled. Being tickled is such a violation rofl It's almost as humiliating as forced orgasms!

Well hey then....I’m your guy. We should go on a date. I will buy you diner, be charming, convince you that I am so harmless you will think nothing of taking a walk through the park with me. When I suddenly clamp a hand over your mouth and drag you into the bushes, tearing your clothes off, you will be able to take comfort in the fact that I won’t be tickling you.

Ah!  For those who aren't familiar with this great website, the Darwin Awards

are given to those persons who remove themselves from the human gene pool by "virtue" of their inferior genes, with an emphasis upon insufficient cranial capacity.  All Darwin Awards are given posthumously!

It's a great site to hang around, problem being, we may see less of you on Savage Violation!

I used to always get involved when I saw people doing stuff (well almost always). I once had an incident where after the fact there was legitimate concern that the bad guy might actually press charges against me for being excessive. THat had an impact. Another freind of mine ended up with a criminal record for harming a guy he caught breaking into his car.

As a result I am somewhat jaded. Why the hell should a good citizen have to worry about being arrested?
